Softball Slapper Clinic April 8th
January 29, 2018
Successful softball teams usually have at least one left-handed slapper, or batter, in their lineup. A lefty slapper can put a great deal of pressure on the defense. She forces the infielders to quickly field the ball and throw it under the pressure of her speed. Slappers actually start running before contacting the ball, which requires anticipation, good timing, proper swing and speed.
Not a lefty batter? Many slappers have converted from right side of the box.
Not a speedster? Learn the mechanics of a slapper so you can be a better defender against the slapper.
This clinic is lead by former ISU slapper, Cathlin Bingham. Following are just a few of the accolades she has earned:
State Champion Ankeny HS 2012
NWFS 2013-2014 (Florida JUCCO)
ISU 2014-2017
3-year starter
2x record holder: Broke two records: single season walks (2016) and lead the team in stolen bases which lead to a record breaking year(20.17) with a team total of 99 stolen bases
3x Big XII All-Academic first team member
2017 named Senior to look for
2017 named team captain and lead ISU Cyclones to one of their most successful seasons, including making it to the Big XII tournament
